AERA: aka American Educational Research Association

AERA has annually academic conference and this year hosted in San Francisco at the end of April to the beginning of May themed “Education & Poverty: Theory, Research, Policy and Praxis.” There are thousand of sessions, varying from papers, symposium, keynotes, roundtables, etc.

Below is the author’s reflection each day based on the interest in mobile technology, embodied learning, & geometry, as it was the first-timer attending this event.

Day 1 Reflection | ได้เรียนรู้กลางๆไม่มีอะไรใหม่วิ๊ดวิ้ว แต่ augmented reality ใน mobile น่าเอามาเล่นกับ urban design ตรงๆได้ดี แถมน่าจะได้ publish paper เป็นว่าเล่น, online learning assessment session ตอนบ่ายเน้น social networking analysis ไม่เข้มข้นมาก แต่การวิเคราะห์บางอย่างน่าสนใจeigenvectors เป็นต้น ตอนเช้าเป็น professional development ไม่มีอะไรใหม่เพราะกรูแก่แล้ว เหมาะกับ young scholar ซึ่งไม่ใช่กรูเท่าไหร่ แต่ได้ทานอาหารเช้าฟรี พรุ่งนี้น่าจะมีอะไรที่เกี่ยวข้องตรงขึ้นมากหน่อย เต็มวัน ตั้งแต่เช้า การเขียนแกร้นท์ และงานวิจัยอื่นๆ

Day 2 Reflection | วันนี้มีหลาย session ที่น่าสนใจเกิดขึ้นพร้อมกัน เลยเลือกไปที่ super star scholar speakers น่าสนใจสมที่ต้ังเป้าไว้ session problem-solving โดยหลายๆโมเดลก็ดี และได้ยินหนาหูเกี่ยวกับ data mining และ social/episiotomy network analysis น่าสนใจม้วากก ไป round table เรื่อง studies in geometry ก็ดี ดีตรงที่รู้สึกว่าที่ทำอยู่ก็ มีสาระไม่น้อยหน้าใคร ถือว่าวันนี้คุ้ม เจอตัวเป้งๆในวงการวิชาการ และคนพูดเก่งๆเยอะ สนุกดี มาถูกทางแหละด้านวิจัย แม้ว่าไม่รู้จบไปจะทำมาหากินอะไรดี

Day 3 Reflection | วันที่สาม cognitive load theory session น่าสนใจ เทพมาเองล้วนๆ มีเกร็ดน่าสนใจนำมาใช้ในงานวิจัย ส่วนรายการอื่นๆหลังๆ ไม่ค่อยมีไร ไม่เก่งเท่าไหร่ มีเกร็ดน่าสนใจไว้เตือนว่า ไม่ควรๆ อย่าเอาตัวอย่างห่วยๆมาใช้ ตอนเย็นออกมา networking กับเพื่อนที่ย้ายไปสแตนฟอร์ด มาเมาท์วิชาการกััน ดีเหมือนกัน

Day 4 Reflection | วันที่สี่ วันนี้ key notes พูดถูกใจและน่าสนใจมากใน เรื่อง race/education equality “rIch kids will and always have more preparation and potentially will gain more in the exam scores because their parents will always give them more and more.” อืิมมม มองไปใน facebook จริงเว้ยคนแถวๆนี้ลงทุนกับลูกๆเพียบ พอดีกันกับมี article น่าสนใจใน NY Times “No Rich Child Left Behind” สุดๆงานนี้ได้อะไรหลายอย่างหลายรูปแบบกลับบ่้าน วิชาก็ได้ activism ก็มี โคตระๆมาก คุ้ม
